Lexi Connor: For our final project, I was tasked with writing a hard news beat story about access to better foods in stores in rural areas of the United States, along with helping create the mini-documentary with Madi Armstrong and editing the website.
Madi Armstrong: For this project, I contributed a human interest beat story about how farmers markets help food insecure individuals, and filmed and edited the mini-documentary about the importance of food pantries in the New River Valley
Anthony Cusat: For this project, I contributed the hard news text story on local restaurants and food inflation, work on the explainer package dealing with food waste and its relation to food insecurity, the photos for the farmer’s market showcase, the custom graphics for the team and the editing for the website.
Hannah Williams: For this project, I was in charge of finding and analyzing datasets for our data visualization story about food insecurity rates across rural and urban Virginia. I also worked alongside Anthony Cusat on our explainer story covering food waste and its relation to food insecurity.
